FRENCH POLISH
"I hate when spurs losing game.."
A delighted Clive Allen described Tuesday's reserve team friendly victory over RC Lens as 'an excellent all-round performance and experience'.
Lens, currently third in Ligue 1 of the French Championnat, fielded 10 players boasting first-team experience including ex-Liverpool defender Gregory Vignal.
They looked the part in the early stages with the impressive Jussie Ferreira lashing home from 30 yards to open the scoring after 16 minutes.
The home side continued to threaten as we found our feet but after a couple of fine saves from Robert Burch, we hit them on the break with Andy Barcham racing onto Jamie O'Hara's pass and finishing his one-on-one chance in style.
O'Hara and Barcham combined again to set-up Simon Dawkins for 2-1 just before the break and it was 3-1 within a minute of the restart as Barcham squared for Tomas Pekhart to tap home.
Tommy Forecast saved a penalty with 18 minutes left and although an own goal made it 3-2, it was too little too late for Lens.
"We had to solve a number of problems against a very experienced Lens side and we did fantastically well to get back into the game and win it comfortably in the end," beamed development coach Clive.
"They looked threatening and were technically very gifted but after about 30 minutes we got organised, got a good shape, made it difficult for them and looked dangerous on the counter-attack.
"We deserved our goals and went in at half-time leading but with a couple of things to sort out.
"We immediately went 3-1 in front and then it was a case of how you control the game and go on to win it.
"That second half performance was exactly what you would look for against a very good side like Lens. We were controlled, defended well, maintained good shape and continued to look dangerous on the counter-attack.
"As an exercise, it was a first-class experience for the lads and I have no doubts that it will help them in terms of being able to adapt their game in different situations and playing on foreign soil."

Henry eyes Gunners exit..
| Thierry Henry is unhappy and wishes he had joined Barcelona in the summer, according to a respected source close to Eatsleepsport. | |
| Henry is said to be looking for a move in the January transfer window after becoming disillusioned with life at Arsenal. The news will come as a massive blow to Arsene Wenger, who spent most of last season persuading the French superstar his future was with the Gunners. Having believed he had successfully tied down Henry's future to the club, Wenger will be disappointed to hear that Henry is regretting his decision to stay and wants to move on. There have been rumours of unrest in recent weeks and, in his programme notes ahead of the draw with CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, Henry publicly criticised the club's fans for having a go at the team and for not showing enough patience in the draw with Everton. French great Michel Platini said at the weekend that Henry had made a mistake not joining Barcelona last summer and now a well known figure in the game claims the striker feels the same way and wants to leave the Emirates Stadium. | |
Spurs eye left winger
After missing out on Stewart Downing in the summer transfer window and being linked with a number of wide left players, including Hatem Ben Arfa, Martin Petrov and Luis Boa Morte, Tottenham have reportedly identified their next target and are poised to agree a deal in January.
Brazilian 22-year-old Leonardo, who plays for NAC Breda, is said to be the man that Damien Comolli and Martin Jol will turn to, and according to reports in Holland the player has a clause in his contract which would allow him to move for 750,000 euros.

Gunning the big boys..
FOOD WATCH: A meat loaf offering was a daring attempt at top quality cuisine and while Gordon Ramsay may not have been impressed, the press pack were not arguing.
INJURY UPDATE: Mourinho denied reports Andriy Shevchenko has been dropped for the last two games and revealed he only returned to full training yesterday. As for Spurs, Pascal Chimbonda suffered a knee ligament injury in this game.
TIME TO RETIRE: Referee Graham Poll should have quit after his unforgivable clanger in last summer's World Cup clash between Australia and Croatia. His insistence on throwing cards around in this game suggested he is now out of his depth at this level.
TOTTENHAM VERDICT: They may have been fortunate to ride their luck at times, but this Spurs side that beat the champions fair and square.
CHELSEA VERDICT: Chelsea don't lose too often, but they beaten by a decent side at White Hart Lane and there was no shame in their performance. Showing guts and fight right through to the final whistle, this is not a result that will leave a lasting scar on Mourinho's men.

FULL STEED AHEAD
Courtesy of http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/
Steed Malbranque joined in with full training for the first time on Monday and Martin Jol hopes a playing return is not far away.
The French midfielder joined us from Fulham at the end of August, but remained sidelined following hernia surgery. After a couple of weeks building up his fitness, Steed was finally able to link up with the squad and the manager reported promising signs.
"Steed is looking good," revealed Martin. "We had a very good session where the intensity was high and he trained with me for the first time.
"He did a lot of stamina sessions with the fitness coach before, but this was the first time he worked with the group and he did well. We trained for two hours and he had no problems.
"Hopefully he can be back in a week's time."

DIMITAR SIGNS
The Club can announce that it has reached agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of striker Dimitar Berbatov for a fee of Euros 16.0 million. Personal player terms have been agreed. The player registration is subject to a successful work permit application and will be effective from July 1, 2006.
Bulgarian international Berbatov, 25, scored 21 goals in 34 matches for Bayer in the Bundesliga last season – the second highest goalscorer in the league.
Named Bulgarian Player of the Year in 2002, 2004 and 2005, Berbatov has scored 31 goals in 50 senior international appearances.
Sporting Director Damien Comolli said: “There were a number of clubs interested in signing Dimitar, clubs from France, Spain and the Premiership. We are delighted he has chosen to join us. He is a tall, skilful, highly-talented striker who not only has a proven track record of being able to finish, but also of creating scoring opportunities for team-mates.”
Dimitar said: “Tottenham is a club that is building something special. The squad has some terrific young players, an excellent manager and coaching staff and I am looking forward to playing my part.”
Berbatov made his name in Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia when he made his debut as an 18-year-old in the 1998-99 season.
Having scored 14 goals in 27 league games in 1999-2000, a run of nine goals in 11 games in 2000-2001 persuaded Bayer Leverkusen to sign him in January 2001. In the last three seasons he’s scored 16 goals in 33 league starts, 20 in 33 and now 21 in 34.
Berbatov made his Bulgarian debut in November 1999 and scored with his first touch in a competitive international in a World Cup qualifier against Denmark in October 2000. He has played Champions League football for Bayer Leverkusen including the final against Real Madrid in 2002 and was in the Bulgarian squad for the European Championships in Portugal in 2004.

Last ever derby..
This last ever North London derby at highbury prove that Arse-nal is a one man team.. No Henry No win, No goal.. What else should we say??
Wenger even accused Martin Jol a liar.. He didn't even shake hand after the game when Jol offered a handshake.. What a shame..
Maybe, it will be a fair game when all things goes their way.. What else should we say.. Arsenal is the only fair play team.. the only team that didn't have a 'diver'.. Lehmann?? reyes?? hleb?? ljungberg?? the only team that their player didn't dive to get a player booked??
Now our fate is in our own hands.. Bring on Bolton.. Bring on West Ham..

Biggest ever derby
"it must be"
Wright knows Arsenal cannot afford to slip up and cannot rely on winning the Champions League to book their place for next season.
"hope they'll slip down"
Ex-Spurs skipper Gary Mabbutt agreed with Wright : "It really is a huge game, one of the most important Tottenham have faced."
"very very important"
"We need to beat Spurs to get closer and to try and cement this Champions League place in case it doesn't work out in the final - if they get there," added Wright.
"Spurs will win"
Mabbutt believes every game Spurs face between now and the end of the season are among the most crucial in the club's history.
"like most of the fan said, every game is a final!!"
"All the games from now on are arguably the biggest set of games the club has faced," Mabbutt told BBC Sport. "it must be it"
"Come On You Spurs!!"
Hopefully Arse-nal won't make it to the CL final. I hope we'll get the 3 points.
GO GO SPURS..

Arse-nal Here We Come..
"We shoud've scored 2 goals inside The early 8 minutes and we should go into halftime with a goal deficit only if It's not lee's fault."
Anyway that's what a sore loser might have said.
Well, let's hope the team to show a great display that'll we never forget as it is the last derby at Highbury this Saturday. We'll beat The Arse-nal. Come On You Spurs.
Anyway we're already in europe next season.
