Steed Malbranque joined in with full training for the first time on Monday and Martin Jol hopes a playing return is not far away.
The French midfielder joined us from Fulham at the end of August, but remained sidelined following hernia surgery. After a couple of weeks building up his fitness, Steed was finally able to link up with the squad and the manager reported promising signs.
"Steed is looking good," revealed Martin. "We had a very good session where the intensity was high and he trained with me for the first time.
"He did a lot of stamina sessions with the fitness coach before, but this was the first time he worked with the group and he did well. We trained for two hours and he had no problems.
"Hopefully he can be back in a week's time."
